Planning of operational Ramp-Up

A) Assessment of Recovery Scenarios

  1. Demand forecasting with impact of COVID-19 - Traditional airline models to forecast passenger demand reach their limits when it comes to post-COVID-19 predictions. Our adapted model includes COVID-19 specific effects which allows more accurate forecasts and thus enhanced route and network building.
  2. Rebuild of network structures - Rebuilding network structures as soon as passenger demand is growing again requires an extraordinary approach compared to usual network planning. We support our customers in identifying interim network models with profit optimized routes, frequencies and RASK.
  3. Check of resource needs and cost optimization - M2P is helping organizations confirming expected health and safety implications on resourcing, optimizing resourcing assumptions and constraints, and generating optimized resource plans including the right standby and reserve plan.

B) Revision of Customer Journey and Service Offering

  1. Service level rethink and product adjustments - Organizations will be faced with uncertainty over the service levels to target as they prepare for the 'new norm' from COVID-19. M2P is helping airlines prepare for this challenge by providing substantiated service level targets, resultant in-shift role and headcount needs, aligned shift patterns and organizational structure, and overall role and headcount needs.
  2. Set-up of COVID-19 resilient Airline processes - Airline operations during and most probably after the COVID-19 pandemic requires process adjustments to reduce transmission risks. M2P is helping airlines overcome these challenges by understanding the different scenarios and translating each's associated guidelines and standards into tailored impact assessments, protocols, and action plans.

Preparation and Execution of operational Ramp-Up

  1. Calculation of critical path for ramp-up in operations - Optimizing operational costs during the upcoming ramp-up phase is crucial. At the same time risks with regards to infrastructure or resources that are not yet available need to be mitigated. We support airlines in identifying those operational risks to stay agile in reacting while making sure that costs are kept low.
  2. Short-term staffing strategy & back-office ramp-up planning - M2P is helping airlines to identify substantiated role and headcount needs for the short-term and to prepare substantiated scenarios for the long-term. Our workload modeling tools are helping our clients to accurately and quickly quantify and simulate FTE requirements against different industry recovery, health and safety, service level, and efficiency scenarios.
  3. Disruption management during COVID-19 and ramp-up - Using proven disruption management approaches combined with classical network planning, M2P optimizes schedule assignments through the combination of a Covid19-adapted demand model and an intelligent assignment solver by generating the most cost-efficient ramp-up scenario for any given business strategy.

Long-term resilience & performance improvement

  1. Long-term business and network optimization - Long-term adaptations after COVID-19 peak will require adaptations in business models as customer demand will change. Further performance improvements with regards to efficiency will be key to success in an even more intense competition. M2P supports Airlines in preparing for upcoming changes. As the post-COVID-19 scenarios are not 100% sure yet, but quick adaptation will be needed, it’s time to prepare scenarios now.
  2. Workforce efficiency enhancement - Airlines will face pressure to deliver previous service levels and capacity declarations but at lower costs as liquidity issues remain and they work to become more resilient following COVID-19. M2P is helping Airlines prepare for this challenge by identifying better ways of working, shift patterns, organizational structures, ways to plan, and resultant role and headcount needs.
  3. Adjustment of IT landscape, CAPEX optimization - Airlines will face pressure to deliver previous service levels and capacity declarations but with fewer new assets as liquidity issues remain and they work to become more resilient following COVID-19. Capital expenditures will have to deliver higher returns-on-investment. With regards to the IT landscape of Airlines this leads to adjustments in existing tools and systems, but also to evaluations of new technologies and connected business cases. We support our customers based on our profound IT market overview and dedicated tools and methods to select and implement new technologies.
  4. Execution of consolidation and cost cutting programs - Post-COVID-19 transformation processes as well as probably needed cost cutting programs need to be structured as well as coordinated. M2P offers a range of Transformation Management services including important Change Management techniques.
